Seems Illinois State Senator Karina Villa wants all of the smoke. Villa tells immigrants, "We will not flinch," encouraging a public disturbance. Public disturbance can be a form of protest under the Constitution but are immigrants allowed to protest without jeopardizing their immigration status? What if some immigrants came to the U.S. unlawfully? Can they protest safely? Do immigrants have constitutional rights?
IL Rep Villa should have done a little more research before advising immigrants to cause a public disturbance. It doesn't appear IL governor JB Pritzker knew what she was saying when Villa only spoke to her Spanish-speaking constituents.

Aurora, ILLINOIS School Board Member, Mayra Reyes, made a discriminatory remark that excluded most American, non-Spanish speaking groups. Spanish is the second most prevalent language spoken in the United States but the use of Spanish language proficiency as a qualifying or performance measure for employment, when it does not apply to the essential functions of the position, may operate to unlawfully disadvantage Black Americans and other groups in America by denying them equal access to employment opportunities.
